In some cultures, yes. It's not as prevalent where I'm from, mostly because it was more of a Terran capitalist custom, but sometimes we like to gift more personal items. It's generally kept for the people we're closest to. But I'm gonna get something if I'm randomly showing up to your friend's birthday party.
Alright, so. You must've seen some moving pictures around the city, like on television screens and such. It's more or less like that, but a movie is a longer format and it tells a story. It's like a theater play, right? But it's recorded first and later shown on a screen. Like a television screen, or a movie theater like the ones we have around Panorama now.
Stage plays are more limited in terms of scenery and special effects. Don't get me wrong, I like plays too, but it's different. It's hard to explain without you seeing it for yourself.
Maybe we could go sometime. I've been hoping to find some people who want to go to the movies with me.
